The Prime Minister has launched a new scheme known as the Agnipath Yojana and this scheme will provide a bright future for the youth. The people who are above the age of 17 and a half years and below the age of 21 years will be provided with the opportunity to join the armed forces for 4 years through a transparent procedure. Compensation Available
The following compensations are available in the Indian Army Agneepath Yojana2022 :-
- Composite annual package
- First-year package of approximately Rupees 4.76 lakh and upgradation up to approximately Rs 6.92 lakhs in the 4th year.
- Allowances
- Risk and hardship, ration, dress, travel allowances as applicable.
- Seva Nidhi
- 30% of monthly emoluments to be contributed by individuals.
- Equal amount was matched and contributed by the government.
- Corpus of approximately Rupees 11.71 lacs after 4 years exempted from income tax.
- Death compensation
- Non-contributory life insurance cover of Rupees 48 lakh.
- Additional ex gratia of Rupees 44 lakh for death attributable to service.
- Pay for any unserved portion for up to 4 years including the Seva Nidhi component.
- Disability compensation
- Compensation is based on the percent of disability laid down by medical authorities.
- One-time ex-gratia of Rupees 44, 25 or 15 lakh for 100%, 75% or 50% disability respectively.
Selection Procedure
The applicant must follow the following selection procedure to apply for this recruitment:-
- Under the AGNIPATH scheme, the Agniveers will be enrolled in the Forces under respective Service Acts for a period of four years.
- They would form a distinct rank in the Armed Forces, different from any other existing ranks.
- Upon the completion of four years of service, based on organizational requirements and policies promulgated by the Armed Forces from time to time, Agniveers will be offered an opportunity to apply for permanent enrolment in the Armed Forces.
- These applications will be considered in a centralized manner based on objective criteria including performance during their four-year engagement period and up to 25% of each specific batch of Agniveers will be enrolled in the regular cadre of the Armed Forces. Detailed guidelines will be issued separately.
- The selection will be the exclusive jurisdiction of the Armed Forces. 46,000 Agniveers will be recruited this year.
- Enrolment will be undertaken through an online centralised system for all three services with specialized rallies and campus interviews from recognized technical institutes such as Industrial Training Institutes and National Skills Qualifications Framework, among others. Enrolment will be based on an ‘All India All Class’ basis and the eligible age will be in the range from 17.5 to 21 years.
- Agniveers will meet the medical eligibility conditions laid down for enrolment in the armed forces as applicable to respective categories/trades.
- The educational qualification for Agniveers will remain in vogue for enrollment in various categories.
