8 Mistakes That Get Methodology Chapters Rejected
- Describing without justifying. Saying "I used interviews" is a description. "I used semi-structured interviews because they allow flexibility to explore emerging themes while ensuring all research questions are addressed (Bryman, 2016)" is a justification. Every choice needs the second version.
- Copying the methodology from your literature review sources. Your methodology chapter is about your study — not a general discussion of research methods. Keep it specific to your actual choices.
